Distant Footsteps of Winter

From Pacific HoritcultureJanuary 2012
Narcissus (Narcissus tazetta subsp. chinensis) was imported from southeastern China during the Gold Rush. They have naturalized and still appear in the winter/spring in the Gold Country in old homesteads and cemeteries.

Like the Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus), the Narcissus can be a sign that the area was a location where early Chinese immigrants lived.
